I take after my Mom...From the very beginning, my life was exposed to her creative spirit. She was always sewing things, decorating things, redecorating things, making beautiful things. Her creative inspiration led me initially to the play in the world of her specialty, textiles - first sewing, then needlepoint and finally cross-stitch. Cross stitch was my favorite and I designed and executed pieces until my fingers were numb. My portfolio held numerous functional pieces with Judaica themes including a unique cross-stitched Passover Seder plate.
As I grew older I became fascinated with the color, fluidity and flexibility of glass as a creative medium. That fascination led first to a hobby in stained glass and ultimately to a business designing and executing lampwork and fused glass art jewelry. The need to produce finished pieces led to combining my glass artwork with gemstones, gold and silver. The colors and textures provide endless variety and pleasure. Judaica themes still frequently find their way into many of my works.
I love sharing my passion with others and do so by teaching classes at local community colleges and bead shops. My work is carried in the Images Gallery in the Kansas City Crossroads District and I have been an exhibitor at the Kansas City Bead Blast, the KC Jewish Art Fair, the Symphony Designer Showcase House, the Overland Park Fall for the Arts Festival, the KC Jewish Museum, and the Hidden Glen Arts Fair.I also serve on the board of the Overland Park Friends of the Arts, an organization supporting and encouraging the arts in the OP area.
